Chessboard

Software: Rhino & Adobe Illustrator
Material: Black & clear acrylic sheet

I designed this chessboard using Rhino first to lay out the pattern and then imported it into Illustrator to laser cut the black and white acrylic panels. I wanted to move beyond the standard 8x8 grid of just squares and create something more visually dynamic. To accomplish this, I connected most of the squares together, forming a wavy, almost optical illusion-like pattern when the board is assembled.

Spider-Patty

Material: MDF, acrylic paint, pipe cleaners, & gears

Spider-Patty is an MDF wooden sculpture that combines the recognizable image of a burger with the spider-like features of french fry legs. The sculpture was made using a belt sander to round out the edges of the bun and patty, a Dremel to carve in realistic bumps and textures on the patty and the legs were hammered to the bottom face of the top bun. Finally, the sculpture was painted and decorated to add color and bring the piece to life.
