Medium: Black ballpoint pen on paper
Partial reproduction of Bartolomeo Cavarozzi's Virgin and Child with Angels painting completed in 1622.
This drawing presented a unique challenge, as I sought to reproduce the realistic texture of gold and gems, as well as skin, hair, and fabric, all within the same drawing using a ballpoint pen.

The intention of this drawing was to challenge myself to replicate the reference image using only a ballpoint pen. This required me to create the illusion of depth and realism through shade and shadow without the ability to smudge pencil marks or erase any mistakes, which added an extra layer of complexity to the piece.
Medium: Black and grey coloured pencils on paper
The use of grey coloured pencils provides a soft and subdued aesthetic, enhancing her delicate expression. The viewer's attention is immediately drawn to the subject's facial features and her hair due to the high contrast between them and the background.

In this artwork, I experimented with ballpoint pen for the first time, having previously only used pencil or coloured pencils. My objective was to capture the intricate details and textures of the clothing, including variations in surface appearance, stitch patterns, and folds in the fabric.
